About

A companion to my essay on why chat is stuck in the middle. The examples collect what people are already building. The playground lets you feel the difference yourself.

I'm Emma Klint, a designer and writer in Stockholm with an MSc in HCI. I explore AI as augmentation: expanding what it can be and what we can make with it. I write about AI, neurodivergence and living with technology that thinks in (Over)Thinking Out Loud.

The method

An inspirational bit is a simple, working thing that lets you understand one property of a technology by using it (Sundström et al. 2011). I first used the method in my master’s thesis at KTH (Klint 2018), to help designers and developers imagine new uses for augmented reality.

Sundström, P., Taylor, A., Grufberg, K., Wirström, N., Solsona Belenguer, J. and Lundén, M. (2011). Inspirational bits: towards a shared understanding of the digital material. Proceedings of CHI 2011.
Klint, E. (2018). Un-blackboxing Augmented Reality for Future Digital Health Applications. Master’s thesis, KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
